I upgraded my Macbook Pro Retina 15" (mid 2014 revision) to OS X Yosemite last night and am now having issues when using my home WiFi connection. Whilst it connects to either the 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz network, it is basically unusable. Web pages take minutes to load (if they even load at all), dropbox doesn't sync because it can't get a connection and even trying to get to the router config page is extremely slow and hit/miss.
Yosemite And Macs At Work
I just tried something, which so far seems to be working. Go in to your Keychain access - System. Find your wireless network - double click. There are two tabs, Attributes & Access Control. Go into the Access Control and check "allow all applications to access this item". Mine was defaulted on confirm before allowing access, which I think was knocking me off every time I tried to do anything.
I've been suffering from this same ailment since I upgraded on Thursday. After much gnashing of teeth (PRAM, SMC, reinstall of Yosemite, etc. etc.) I finally **RESOLVED** it by creating a new Network Location.
My home wifi is AC, the router is a talk talk 'super router'. It gives out AC on the 5Ghz band and N on the 2.4Ghz band. I have the same problem connecting to either. So out of frustration I changed back to my older talk talk router which just does N on 2.4 and so far so good. It works.
I have the same issue with WiFi. WiFi drops every 3-5 minutes. It does not depend on router. I have the same issue at home with Airport, at work with Cisco and at my mother home with Netgear. I had no problems with Maverics.
This is SOO annoying. Mavericks had its issues with JUMBO Frames that was never fixed but this is crazy now. Last night I upgraded to Yosemite from Mavericks. Now I can see my 5Ghz SSID but only have internet for 30 seconds at best. I don't even see my 2.4GHz network at all. If I toggle Wifi on and off I see the 2.4 for a moment and then gone. I removed all favorite wifi's and manually configured the 2.4 and will not connect. Removed that one and tried 5Ghz and same 30 seconds. I have done all updates, I have restarted numerous times and no go!
I for sure have this issue and it's very frustrating. Funny though, I could connect fine (it seemed) when using my non iPhone device at work for Internet sharing...seemed to keep the signal. But at home now, it kicks off after only a few seconds. I bet that the time it took me to type this, I got bumped off. Also, i notice, even when connected, the WiFi Looking for Networks notices still running...so it appears the PC is not understanding it is being connected. It appears. This is a major bummer!
I've tried reindexing and I've also tried deleting Spotlight's .plist file. I restart my MacBook Pro after doing either. Finder search will work for one or two queries and stop again. I don't know what else I can do.
On iCloud.com "Find my iPhone" finds all the devices, and gets a location for the iPhones and MacBook, but not the MacBook Pro. "Find my iPhone" can send an alert sound to the MacBook Pro and that works.
Unlike Personal Hotspot, which involves going into your iPhone settings and activating it, Instant Hotspot can be activated from the Wi-Fi network menu on your desktop. This, again, worked on my 2012 MacBook but not my 2011 one.
After I upgraded my Mac from Mavericks OSX to Yosemite, my local Apache and MySQL server setup did not work anymore. Thanks to Apache localhost/username/ not working I just got the Apache server working but my Joomla application now indicates it can't access the MySQL database; neither can the Phpmyadmin tool.
How to fix this? I've seen instructions for installing MySQL for Yosemite ( -apache-php-mysql-macosx-10-10-yosemite/) but I'm not sure whether that's the best way forward as my Joomla application still needs to access the existing MySQL db information? E.g., I don't want to lose my existing saved database info of various web applications....
Adobe and Apple have worked closely together to test Adobe Creative Cloud applications for reliability, performance, and user experience when installed on Intel-based systems running Mac OS X Yosemite (version 10.10). The latest versions of all Adobe Creative Cloud products are compatible. In addition to the current Photoshop CC release (2014.2), the Photoshop team has also tested Photoshop CC 2014 (2014.2), Photoshop CC (14.2.1) and CS6 (13.0.6; 13.1.2) for compatibility.
With OS X 10.10 Yosemite, it turned out that Apple made a change to the way that the operating system worked. This caused problems for some users who had installed third-party SSDs into their Macs, particularly if that system was a boot drive.
Here is one idea: A few older versions of OS X (from around the era of Yosemite) do not like our emulated USB3 (xHCI) controller, which would cause the keyboard and mouse to stop working inside the virtual machine.
Hi Tried the advanced setting but it will not let me change the USB lower than the default of 3.1 which is greyed out and if I select keyboard and mouse the default profiles Mac Profile says disabled, Mac Profile 2 says Disabled, Have selected Profile Default and it says Enabled but still does not work.
I directly edited vmx config file which is under my virtual machine/OS X 10.11 folder: changed virtualHW.version parameter from 19 to 15. The 15 is my arbitrary guess that makes El Captain run in Fusion Player 12.2.3 on my 2015 MBA running upgraded to Monterey, while the default 19 stuck the same mouse installation error. Yosemite should work the same fashion, maybe lower virtualHW.version
I had the same problem with a Late 2013 Macbook pro. rEFInd worked for me with the command ./install.sh --esp --alldrivers, although my first impression was that I had failed. I just had to wait 1 minute for the rEFInd menu to pop up during the boot.
The "partition 3" contains the new Recovery Partition version 10.10, with LVM Boot capability as mentioned in yosemite.html.The "partition 4" is the old Recovery Partition version 10.9 which is no longer necessary! If can be reformatted to HFS+, and REFIND can be installed therein.
Hope this helps someone out there as I have solved this problem - my passport for mac would mount but would stop and start when copying (very slowly) - I just reset the SMC and it now works fine! Hope this helps people out there
some of my colleagues are testing OS X 10.10 and the global protect client does not work. I read that Apple changed something with their signatures and when I take a look into the info.plist of the GlobalProtect Client it looks like this software is build with 10.6
AirDrop uses peer-to-peer ad hoc wireless networking, which is only supported in recent Macs (2011 and later). Although this may seem limiting, this hardware is what makes it possible to communicate with zero configuration and without using a common Wi-Fi access point.
Shared files are only useful if you can access them! Your Mac provides two methods of connecting to shared folders: by browsing for them on your local network and by entering a URL to connect directly to the shared resource.
You may notice when connecting to other Yosemite or Mountain Lion servers that you are given the option of connecting with your Apple ID. This will work if your account has had an Apple ID associated with it on the remote server. This association is made by selecting a user within the Users & Groups System Preferences panel and then clicking the Set button that is next to the Apple ID field.
If there are many different computers sharing files on your network, you can browse them in a Finder window rather than the Finder sidebar. To open a Finder window that browses your network, choose Go, Network from the menu bar, or click the All... icon within the Shared section of the Finder sidebar.
Lightroom 5: The Maps module may load slowly, or fail to load completely. According to an Adobe statement at Photoshop.com (Lightroom: Issue with Map module in OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)), the problem is apparently related to an Apple change in Yosemite that interferes with retrieving map data from Google Maps. [Update: Apple fixed their bug in OS X 10.10.2 which is now available. After you install OS X 10.10.2, the Lightroom Maps module should work properly.]
Photoshop: The Photoshop team has published their own blog post about the OS X upgrade, Photoshop & Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). In it they say that they tested Photoshop CS6 through Photoshop CC and found no issues. However, the comments section of that post contains a lively discussion of issues some users are running into. For example, it has been discovered that the Yosemite installer might corrupt an existing Photoshop CS5 installation; if this happens reinstall Photoshop CS5 and then it should work. 2ff7e9595c
